I grew up in the small town of Pinckneyville, IL, just more than an hour southeast of St. Louis. I attended Pinckneyville Community High School, then junior college at Rend Lake College getting my Associate’s Degree while at RLC. I then moved on to Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, earning my Bachelor’s Degree from SIUC.
While in high school, I played golf and basketball for the Panthers. In my free time, I still enjoy hitting the links as well as most other outdoor sports. In my down time you can find me watching the St. Louis teams, the Cardinals and the Blues, or his SIU Salukis. I'm the proud son of Wes and Claudia Choate and I have one younger brother, Coleman.
I was the weekend sports anchor at WCIA in Champaign, IL for nearly five years. I joined the WCIA team in August of 2015 as the Sports Reporter, and was promoted to Weekend Anchor in April of 2016. I spent the previous 3 years at WSIL in Carterville, IL. While there I wore multiple hats in both the news and the sports department.
